Agenda Waikato's Five-Point Mandate
Remain business-led and independent whilst working collaboratively with others to help drive initiatives.
Issues and opportunities identification that leads to the Waikato sub-region being the best it can be and where the benefits are direct or indirect.
Reducing barriers to business that benefit the wider community and economy.
Action-based and outcomes focused – with specific time-frames, funding and reporting.
Problem-solve via research and business experience NOT opinions and nice-to-haves.
Business-led thinking for the sub-region
Agenda Waikato's purpose is to support and drive initiatives that strengthen the voice of the region on the political stage both public, in forums and by private influence. This support extends to potential business and investment opportunities as part of the sustainable growth of the region. With action in mind, the business-centric think tank is outcome-focused that aspires to be a region that is the best to help grow the Waikato with business in mind.

Agenda Waikato supports initiatives that strengthen the voice of the Waikato Region on the local and national political stage (both in public, in forums and by private influence) and that of potential business and investment opportunities as part of the sustainable growth of the region. The real story is in the facts and figures about the region. It’s important to see the Waikato getting its share of political influence, funding and attention that reflects its standing in New Zealand.
The first piece of work Agenda Waikato is commissioning is a full SWOT and “balance sheet” of the sub-region. There are bits of data within the area but it needs to be all in one place and updated regularly to be consistent, relevant and useable. Part of this research will consider the cost of living in the Waikato and the cost of doing business. Agenda Waikato isn’t interested in duplicating data that is already out there so is collaborating with others as part of the process. It is likely that this data will provide insight and give direction to the sub-region’s next areas of focus.
